Title:
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR PERFORMING CIRCULAR ANASTOMOSES ON LARGE INTESTINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1981/000046
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A surgical instrument for performing circular anastomoses on various parts of the large intestine, comprising a cylindrical casing with a mandrel (2) at one of its ends and mounted coaxially inside the casing, a rod (3) with a circular blade (4) provided with a mechanism for its longitudinal travel and a bar (6) with a supporting head (7) axially movable in relation to the rod (3), and a mechanism (8) for performing circular anastomoses. The mechanism (8) for performing circular anastomoses consists of two parts one of which is mounted on the mandrel (2) and houses broaching elements interacting with the rod (3) to ensure their joint travel when performing circular anastomoses, the other part being mounted on the supporting head (7). The part of the mechanism (8) for performing circular anastomoses which is mounted on the mandrel (2) comprises two rings (9, 10) placed at some distance one from the other, a number of the broaching elements executed as needles (11) being spaced equidistantly along a circle in the gap between them. Some needles (11) are provided with compensators (12). The part of the mechanism (8) for performing circular anastomoses which is mounted on the supporting head (7) is constructed as a ring (14) connected to the supporting head (7) with the possibility of their disconnection in the course of performing the anastomosis. Both parts of the mechanism (8) for performing circular anastomoses are fixed to each other during the performing of circular anastomoses and are left inside the large intestine until the complete necrosis of the intestine.
