Abstract:
Provided is a suspension device for a vehicle with which exceptional operative stability can be achieved, in conformity with a longitudinal spring constant or transverse stiffness of a tire. This suspension device (1) comprises: an upper arm (2) and a lower arm (4) that are linked to a body (B) so as to be capable of vertically swinging; a wheel support (8) that is linked to the upper arm and the lower arm and rotatably supports a vehicle wheel (6); and a buffer device (12) of which the upper end is attached to the body and the lower end is attached to the wheel support. The upper arm and the lower arm are disposed such that the sum of a time constant pertaining to a time delay in transverse force generated in the vehicle wheel, said constant being calculated on the basis of suspension characteristics pertaining to the transverse force, and a time constant corresponding to a time delay in transverse force that is calculated on the basis of the transverse stiffness of the vehicle wheel, is equal to or less than a predetermined target value. The suspension characteristics pertaining to transverse force include an amount of scuff change that accompanies the vehicle wheel stroke.
