Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a suspension member and a method for manufacturing the same with which it is possible to achieve inexpensive manufacturing without reduced rigidity, while also suppressing warpage at joined sections. [Solution] The present invention is a method for manufacturing a suspension member (100) provided with a pair of side members (40) and a cross member (10), said cross member (10) linking the pair of side members together, extending in the vehicle lateral direction, and comprising an upper member (11) and a lower member (21) that are provided with base sections (12, 22) and rising sections (15, 16, 25, 26). Said method comprises: an assembly step (ST1) in which the cross member is formed by the upper member and the lower member, and the side members are assembled in a state of being inserted from the outside into an internal space (S) formed by the upper member and the lower member; a first joining step (ST2) in which the upper member and the lower member are joined; and second joining steps (ST3, ST4) in which the side members and the cross member, which overlap in the internal space, are joined.
