Abstract:
Provided is a switch element that can safely open or short an electric circuit in response to abnormalities such as wetting with water and leakage of liquid from a battery. The switch element comprises: first and second conductors 2, 3 that are connected to an external circuit; and a reaction part 5 that includes an insulating material 4 that changes state upon contact with liquid. When the insulating material 4 changes state as a result of contact with liquid that has entered the element, the first and second conductors 2,3 are electrically connected or are opened.
