Abstract:

　[Problem] To make it possible for an insulation-type converter circuit to carry out soft switching at high efficiency, with low noise, and at low cost. [Solution] A switched-mode power supply is composed of: as a primary side circuit, a synchronous-rectification step-up/step-down chopper circuit 10 equipped with a main switching element 14, a commutation element 16, a choke coil 18, and a buffer capacitor 20; and, as a secondary side circuit, a series circuit having an output capacitor 24 and a rectification element 26 connected to a secondary winding 22 provided to the choke coil 18. The inductance of the choke coil 18 is set to a predetermined value such that the choke coil current IL, which runs through the choke coil 18, runs in both the positive and negative direction by crossing over zero within one switching cycle when the output current is at or below the maximum output current. A switching control circuit 30 soft-switches the main switching element 14 and the commutation element 16 during a switching cycle by providing dead time and by controlling the ON and OFF state in a complementary manner.
