Abstract:
In the case of forming an ion-conducting layer on a first electrode to be a metal ion supply source, insulating characteristics of the ion-conducting layer is prevented from deteriorating, while preventing the first electrode from oxidizing. A switching element is provided with: the first electrode to be the metal ion supply source; a second electrode which is not easily ionized compared with the first electrode; and the ion-conducting layer, which exists between the first electrode and the second electrode, is capable of conducting the metal ions, and contains a metal oxide. The ion-conducting layer has the structure composed of different kinds of two or more layers, and the diffusion coefficient of the metal ions in the ion-conducting layer closest to the first electrode is larger than the diffusion coefficient of the metal ions in other ion-conducting layers.
