Abstract:
Disclosed is a switching power supply device for intermittently performing switching operation, wherein the power lost when the switching operation is restarted is reduced. Also disclosed is a semiconductor device functioning as a control circuit (101) for controlling a switching power supply device (100). Specifically disclosed is a semiconductor device provided with: an intermittent oscillation control circuit (18) for alternately executing instructions to perform and stop the switching operation of a switching element (2); a bottom detection circuit (17) for detecting the bottom of a ringing voltage generated when the switching element (2) is off; a bottom monitoring time counting circuit (32) for counting the bottom monitoring time which is the length of time in which the bottom of the ringing voltage should be monitored starting from the point in which the instruction to perform the switching operation was executed; and a turn-on control circuit (29) for turning on the switching element (2) only when the bottom of the ringing voltage was detected in the bottom detection circuit (17) until the completion of counting the bottom monitoring time.
