Abstract:
The present invention relates to a technology which extracts from a compressed video, generated by a CCTV camera for example, a region of meaningful movement, that is, a moving object region, in image block units of the compressed video on the basis of syntax, such as motion vectors and coding types, without having to resort to complex image processing as in the conventional technology, and observes movement in the moving object region to detect a loitering object event in the case of erratic directionality of movement. According to the present invention, an object loitering in a CCTV-filmed video can be discerned in real-time without having to resort to complex processing such as decoding, down-scale resizing, differential image acquisition, image analysis, and the like of a compressed video, and thus anti-crime effect of a video surveillance system can be improved.
