Abstract:
A method for the Ethernet supporting the transmitting of the source-specific
multicast. The main technique comprises: when the IP message of the source-specific
multicast SSM is encapsulated based on the Ethernet, the source-specific virtual
local area network SS-VLAN, which comprises the source IP address SIP information
of the SSM multicast, is act as the VLAN tag, the transmitting of the SSM is carried
through based on the Ethernet encapsulation. The present invention also discloses
a router and Ethernet switcher. When the method and the device issued in this invention
are applied, it may reduce the cost of the device and upgrade of the whole network,
and is compatible in maximum degree with current device, reduce the investing
cost of the provider.
