Description:
A SYSTEM FOR IDENTIFYING PERSONALITY TRAITS OF A USER

FIELD OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a system for identifying the personality traits of a user.

BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION Methods of identifying and analysing personality features and characteristics based on an analysis of the person's response to a set of questions are well known in the art. The above is normally used by employers to determine whether a person's personality will fit a desired job description.

One of the disadvantages of the known methods of the kind is that statements are presented which requires the user to simply grade the statement, typically within a scale of 1 to 10, and seldomly opportunity is provided for oral and / or written submissions. Also, the above tests are usually utilised in the corporate / formal environment whereas a need exist for a system wherein participants can, in an informal way, obtain knowledge on the personality traits of a fellow participant.

The applicant having considered the above proposes the invention hereunder.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to the invention there is provided a system for identifying the personality traits of a user which includes:

a plurality of card subsets, each of which corresponds to a personality trait,

each card subset further including:

a card subset questionnaire which is designed to extract answers relating to the personality trait, the card subset questionnaire further including;

a positive orientated question designed to extract a positive aspect of the personality trait from the user; and

a negative orientated question designed to extract a negative aspect of the personality trait from the user, respectively;

a first manipulator for manipulating the user to attend to at least one card subset of the plurality of card subsets; and

a second manipulator for manipulating the user to attend to at least one question of the card subset questionnaire.

The card subsets may be in electronic form.

The card subsets may each comprise of a plurality of cards, each card having a questionnaire side, and an identification side, respectively, wherein the identification side contains colour, numerals or any other suitable indicia.

The personality traits may relate to any one or more of the group consisting of emotional traits, social traits, physical traits, intellectual traits, and spiritual traits, respectively.

Each of the personality traits may have a numerical value assigned thereto.

The first manipulator may be in the form of a conventional dice, token or any other suitable item of chance featuring at least five outcomes, wherein each outcome relates to a personality trait.

Each outcome may have a numerical value assigned thereto which numerical value dictates a card subset to attend to.

The second manipulator may be in the form of a dice, token, or any other suitable item of chance featuring two outcomes, each one of which dictates the user to attend to either the positive or negative orientated question. The system may further include a progress measurement means for measuring the progress of the user.

The progress measurement means may include the use of a board and uniquely designed player icons wherein each player icon corresponds to the progress made by the user when using the system.

The progress may be measured by the summation of consecutive numerical values as a result of the outcome of the user using the first manipulator.

According to a second aspect of the invention there is provided a process for identifying the personality traits of a user which includes the steps of:

selecting from a plurality of personality traits one personality trait to attend to;

attending to a positive or negative orientated question which questions are designed to extract a positive or negative aspect of the personality trait from the user, respectively; and

measuring the progress made by the user when attending to the process.

Brief description of the invention The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:

Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of the system in accordance with the invention.

Detailed description of the invention

According to an embodiment of the invention there is provided a board game 10 designed for identifying the personality traits of a user which includes a plurality of card subsets 12, each of which corresponds to a personality trait, each card subset 12 further including, a card subset questionnaire which is designed to extract answers relating to the personality trait, the card subset questionnaire further including a positive orientated question designed to extract a positive aspect of the personality trait from the user, and a negative orientated question designed to extract a negative aspect of the personality trait from the user, respectively, a first manipulator 14 for manipulating the user to attend to at least one card subset of the plurality of card subsets 12, and, a second manipulator 16 for manipulating the user to attend to at least one question of the card subset questionnaire.

The card subsets 12 each comprise of a plurality of cards, each card having a questionnaire side, and an identification side, respectively, wherein the identification side contains colour, numerals or any other suitable indicia corresponding to and identifying the personality trait.

The personality traits will relate to any one or more of the group consisting of emotional traits, social traits, physical traits, intellectual traits, and spiritual traits, respectively.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention the first manipulator 14 is in the form of a conventional dice having six sides, each side containing a unique numerical value, of wherein each numerical value further denotes a specific personality trait. The sixth side will contain indicia or signage allowing the user a second chance and or option.

Each numerical value will dictate the user which card subset to attend to.

The second manipulator 16 is in the form of a dice, token, or any other suitable item of chance featuring only two outcomes, each one of which dictates the user to attend to either the positive or negative orientated question of the previously selected card subset questionnaire of the card subset 12.

The system 10 further include a progress measurement means for measuring the progress of the user. The progress measurement means can be in the form of a board 18 containing blocks arranged in in a rectangular or square fashion.

Progress of the users is measured by shifting icons assigned to each user along the board 1 8.

The progress is typically measured by the summation of consecutive numerical values as a result of the outcome of the user using the first manipulator 14.

The board game for exploiting the invention will comprise the following parts:

1 . A board having a series of playing blocks arranged in a rectangular and / or square manner along the peripheral region thereof. The playing blocks can also contain further instructions thereon.

2. A dice having six sides at least five of which containing numerals selected from values, one, two, three, four and five.

3. The sixth side of the dice will indicate a free chance to the user.

4. Five subsets of card decks wherein each card subsets contains a set of questions which answers relates to the specific personality trait, the set of questions further including a negative question, and a positive question, respectively.

5. A token having two sides each of which is indicative to the positive and negative question, respectively.

In use, the game or identification will commence by all the players and or users, having a chance to roll the dice. The player obtaining the highest number will typically commence the game.

The player will roll the dice which value will indicate which deck of cards to attend to. The subsequent roll of the token will indicate which of the positive or negative question to attend to. After having answered the question the player will move its icon along the board according to the numerical value obtained when rolling the dice.

A sixth deck of cards can also be included wherein the sixth side of the dice will entice the user to pick a card from the sixth deck. This deck of cards can contain specific instructions not relating to personality traits.

The sixth side of the dice can include the following instructions to the players:

1 . Skip a turn.

2. Reveal any strength or weakness.

3. Ask another player to reveal a strength or weakness in the category of choice of the player asking the question.

Exemplary instructions for users to play the game in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention:

What do you need to play?

A dice with six number and or letters which number or letters correspond to the following personal traits;

Number Trait

Social

2 Physical

3 Intellectual

4 Emotional

5 Spiritual

6 Free chance A coin with "heads" and "tails" sides wherein "heads" upside invites the player to reveal a strength, and '"tails" upside invites the player to reveal a weakness. Five subsets of card decks wherein each card deck contains a set of questions relating to one of five personality trait selected from social traits, physical traits, intellectual traits, emotional traits and spiritual traits.

How do vou play? The player roll the dice and subsequently thereafter the coin.

The number on the dice indicates which card deck the player need to take a card from.

After picking the card the player roll the coin and the upside indicates whether the player needs to attend to the positive, or negative question of the card, wherein the positive question invites the player to reveal a strength, and the negative questions invites the player to reveal a weakness, respectively.

The upside of the dice with reference numeral six will allow the player a '"free chance" wherein the free chance will allow the player one of the three following options:

a. Skip a turn

b. Reveal a strength or weakness relating to any personality trait

c. Ask another player to reveal a strength of weakness in a selected category. Each player further chooses an icon which are moved along the blocks of the board wherein the progress is made in accordance with the value revealed when rolling the dice in step 1 .

The board will have 50 blocks and intermittently will contain blocks having specific instructions to players, which instructions can include the following:

a. Start here

b. You have told the truth. Roll dice again. c. You have lied. Go back 5 paces.

d. Reveal a strength.

e. Reveal a weakness.

f. Skip a turn.

g. You win.

The players will participate until one player reaches the ""You win'" block playing board.
