Abstract:
A system for limiting the movement of a user in water relates to systems for swimming and can be used for systems for simulating a virtual reality (VR). The claimed system makes it possible to generate a force that returns a swimmer during movement in any direction, as well as to enhance the effect of presence in VR, and to reduce the requirements applicable to a support part and the space used in a pool. The system comprises an element that is resilient to bending for restraining a swimmer (directly or via an intermediary), which can be secured by a system of supports. Under the effect of the swimmer's movements, the resilient element moves as a whole without undergoing deformation and such that the height at which its ends are situated varies. The system reacts to horizontal movement of the swimmer by a bending of the resilient element. For vertical freedom, the resilient element is mounted on supports, allowing rotation. Alternatively, the resilient element is configured for translational motion. The resilient element can be connected to the swimmer by a module fastened to the swimmer or held in the swimmer's hands. To prevent collisions with the user, the resilient element can be curved.
