Abstract:
A device (20) for measuring the speed at which a magnetic card (10) is carried. Magnetic recording parts (12) arranged in a stripe-form in a carrying direction are provided on the magnetic card (10). The device (20) comprises a magnetic head (21) for reading the magnetic recording parts (12) by scanning, a peak detecting part (23) which detects the peaks of the signal produced by reading by the magnetic head (21) and outputs pulse signals according to the intervals between the peaks, a counter (24) for measuring the time intervals between the pulse signals, an arithmetic processing part (26) which calculates the speed of carrying the magnetic card (10) from the intervals between the magnetic recording parts (12) and the time intervals between the pulse signals, and a displaying part (27) for displaying the result of the calculation by the arithmetic processing part (26). Therefore, there is an effect that the speed of carrying the magnetic card (10) can be measured accurately.
