Abstract:
A system and method for completing a telephone connection requested by an individual between a public telephone 105 and a remote telephone. Each public telephone 105 in the system has a caller identifier, such as a card reader 165 , that allows the individual to identify himself to the system. A processor receives data including the identity of the individual, and the identity and location of the public, and compares the data with data stored in a database. The processor determines whether the individual or the public telephone satisfies one or more predetermined conditions. The requested telephone connection between the public telephone and the remote telephone is completed if the individual and/or the public telephone satisfies the predetermined conditions.
