A system and method for controlling a sliding cover (1) device, for use in controlling the movement of the sliding cover (1) on a terminal product. The system comprises a main control chip, a motor driver chip, a power supply module, and a single-chip microcomputer. Touch points (C, C 1) are provided on both the sliding cover (1) and the terminal product. The main control chip and the single-chip microcomputer are both electrically connected to the preset touch points (C, C 1). A timing detection device is provided in the single-chip microcomputer, and a preset time (T0) is stored in the timing detection device. The main control chip and the single-chip microcomputer detect signals of the touch points (C, C 1) after the sliding cover (1) moves for the preset time (T0), and control the movement state of the sliding cover (1) according to the signals of the touch points (C, C 1). By using a timing detection device to determine whether the sliding cover (1) device slides to the right position timely and automatically shutting off the drive system, the problem of the sliding cover (1) device getting stuck is solved, and the performance and service life of the sliding cover (1) device is improved or prolonged.
