Abstract:
The invention discloses a method for controlling a vehicle in order to automatically prevent the vehicle from colliding with obstacles. The method comprises the following steps: identifying and locating obstacles in front of the vehicle, wherein the relative position of the obstacle in relation to the vehicle is determined by means of its coordinates; measuring the relative speed of the identified obstacles; assessing whether there is a risk of a collision between the vehicle and an obstacle as a function of the respective relative position and relative speed; executing the following steps if there is a risk of a collision with an obstacle: calculating an unsafe region around the obstacle as a function of known measurement errors; calculating an evasion point within or on an edge of the unsafe region; defining a protection zone with a radius (RRISK) around the evasion point; defining an evasion route which is in the form of a circular path and has a predefined radius of curvature (ρ); controlling the vehicle at a critical distance, so that the vehicle follows the evasion route which is in the form of a circular path, wherein the evasion route which is in the form of a circular path is tangential to the protection zone.
