Disclosed are a system and method for remotely monitoring the power demand quantity of a magnesium electrical smelting furnace group. The system comprises a data acquisition apparatus, a local personal computer (PC), a cloud server and a remote PC. The data acquisition apparatus comprises a voltage transformer, a current transformer, an active power transmitter, a first lower computer, a plurality of multi-purpose electronic gauges and a second lower computer. The method comprises: collecting smelting currents of magnesium electrical smelting furnaces, smelting powers of the magnesium electrical smelting furnaces and a power demand quantity of a furnace group; performing opening/closing control on each magnesium electrical smelting furnace according to the smelting current of each magnesium electrical smelting furnace, the smelting power of each magnesium electrical smelting furnace and the power demand quantity of the furnace group; and sending bottom monitoring data to the local PC, thus achieving data exchange between the local PC and the remote PC by means of a Zookeeper technology, and remote monitoring of the magnesium electrical smelting furnace group.
