Abstract:
Provided are a system and a method for removing carbon dioxide (CO2) from natural gas whereby, in removing CO2 from the natural gas using a gas separation membrane, clogging or deterioration of the gas separation membrane can be prevented even under conditions of boosting the natural gas. After removing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) with an H2S remover 10 from natural gas that is the starting gas, the natural gas, from which H2S has been removed, is boosted with a compressor 20. Next, the thus boosted natural gas is cooled with a cooler 22 so that a portion of the gas is condensed. The condensed portion is removed by a gas/liquid separator 30. Then, CO2 is removed from the natural gas, from which the condensed portion has been removed, using a CO2 separator 40 provided with a separation membrane 41 for separating CO2. The natural gas, from which CO2 has been removed, is expanded with an expander 50 that shares a driving shaft 51 with the compressor 20 and thus energy is recovered.
