Abstract:
A compressed sensor data stream generated by a sensor of a portable computing device ( "PCD" ) may be provided while the PCD is in a low-power mode. A processor subsystem operating in the low-power mode may store the compressed sensor data stream in a local memory. The processor subsystem may be coupled to a PCD system memory via a memory bus but unable to access the PCD system memory while the PCD is in the low-power mode. In response to a request by an application program for sensor data (e.g., when the PCD is no longer in the low-power mode), the processor subsystem may decompress sensor data stored in its local memory and provide the decompressed sensor data to the application program.
