Abstract:
A system and method of providing advertisements and rewards in smart devices such as mobile phones and tablets in a manner that a user when viewing the advertisements can generate digital currency usable on real-time transactions. The method is as follows: (1) Sensing the state of a mobile device during various intervals in utility (such as time taken to connect to a call, on call, time taken to open a new application, etc.) (2) The state of the device uncompromised and utilized to generate unobtrusive advertisements on an adaptive screen from an on-line/off-line server local server. (3) The amount of time spent by the user on advertisement(s) to payback digital currency is calculated and (4) identifying and selecting a suitable advertisement from on-line/off-line local server for successful implementation of the model.

CLAIMS

I/We claim:

1 . An advertising rewards system, the system comprising: an advertising and rewards application targeted to users of a plurality of smart devices such as mobile phones and tablets, wherein the advertising campaign comprises a plurality of activities, each activity having one or more measurable performance metrics, wherein one of the plurality of activities is connectivity from an online/offline local server; a control center configured to control, via the one or more computing devices, communication between from the online/offline local server located within a network of advertising displays; a content management system that interconnects the interactive advertising displays on the smart devices; an application called toast to display the advertisements without obstruction to the user of smart devices of their regular work such as attending to a call, typing a message or playing a game; an application called PhoneListener to monitor the changes in the state of the smart device status such as ringing, offhook, idle, on call, off call etc.; an application to identify the size of the screen occupied by the smart device and pushing the customized size of the advertisement in remaining part of the smart device screen. a plurality of transmitters, each transmitter adapted for pushing content to the said smart device within one of the respective online/offline local server; an application to maintain the account of the user of the smart device based on the advertisement displayed and transfer the digital currency in such account as on when it accumulates to certain quantity; an application to show the account balances to the user of the smart device and allowing the user to use the digital currency accumulated to in the account.

The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said System additionally allows the user to use the system as a messenger or sms application.

The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said system additionally allows the user to use the system as caller id identification application in that the system crawls through public databases and social media to identify the name, photograph, email id, address and other details of the caller which are available over internet.

4. The Method of displaying of advertisements comprising the following:

an advertising and rewards methods targeted to users of a plurality of smart devices such as mobile phones and tablets, wherein the advertising campaign comprises a plurality of activities, each activity having one or more measurable performance metrics, wherein one of the plurality of activities is connectivity from an online/offline local server; a method of control center configured to control, via the one or more computing devices, communication between from the online/offline local server located within a network of advertising displays; a content management method that interconnects the interactive advertising displays on the smart devices; a method to display the advertisements without obstruction to the user of smart devices of their regular work such as attending to a call, typing a message or playing a game; a method to monitor the changes in the state of the smart device status such as ringing, offhook, idle, on call, off call etc.;

a method to identify the size of the screen occupied by the smart device and pushing the customized size of the advertisement in remaining part of the smart device screen. a method for plurality of transmitters, each transmitter adapted for pushing content to the said smart device within one of the respective online/offline local server; a method to maintain the account of the user of the smart device based on the advertisement displayed and transfer the digital currency in such account as on when it accumulates to certain quantity; a method to show the account balances to the user of the smart device and allowing the user to use the digital currency accumulated to in the account.

The method as claimed in claim 4 wherein the said method additionally allows the user to use the system as a messenger or sms application.

The method as claimed in claim 4 wherein the said method additionally allows the user to use the system as caller id identification application in that the system crawls through public databases and social media to identify the name, photograph, email id, address and other details of the caller which are available over internet.

Description:
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SMART DEVICE ADVERTISEMENTS AND ITS MONITIZATION BY USERS

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to a system and method for providing rewards to smart devices users, and more particularly, to rewarding smart phone users via sharing proceeds from advertising revenues while ensuring the display of advertisement to the phone users without any interruption to their regular usage of the smart devices (phones).

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Companies have long used traditional advertising approaches, such as commercials that run during television shows and prior to movie screenings, to reach television and movie viewers and attempt to convert them into customers. More recently, companies have expanded their approach using a product integration or product placement model in which their products or brands are incorporated within the television or movie content itself. For example, a character in a show might interact with the placed product as a prop, or refer to it in some manner. While such models can work satisfactorily in some cases, there is currently no tangible incentive for viewers to pay attention to the placed products, nor are there reliable mechanisms for companies to determine whether viewers notice or are responding to the advertising for which they expend resources to create and display.

Advertising revenue has become a driving business force in today's business market. Electronic devices have been increasingly employed in the advertising forum, including advertising on computers and mobile devices, such as Smartphones and tablets. The vast majority of advertising platforms and models utilizing such devices randomly provide advertisements with web page links, email links, and contemporaneously with mobile applications and games, or via spam in email. Other advertising platforms utilize tracking algorithms or phishing methods to track consumer's web site searches and visits to attempt to provide advertising geared toward the consumer.

Companies have shown interest in providing advertisements pre and post receiving and making phone calls by the Smart phone/tablets users for few seconds displaying their product or brand/logo or communicate various messages to connect with large mobile phone users as target groups.

Conventional advertising methods on mobile devices such as those utilizing the Android operating system rely upon application developers to call for an advertisement at specific points within the user mechanics of an application. For instance, a game application may call for an ad in between levels of a game. Another instance is for an ad to be called once the user launches or exits an application. Further the time taken for display of such advertisement irritate the user of the smart phone or synonymous device, since it blocks the actual work for which the user is interested or working on. Typically, the users do not enjoy such advertisements and would like to avoid them.

The conventional advertisement systems also do not help them monetizing the advertisements that viewed by the users thereby it is only the advertiser gets benefit of such advertisement and users generally does not get benefited. In some cases, where the users are also offered some monetary benefit are currently, however, users receiving offers or coupons that are typically required to present their smartphone or synonymous device to a point of sale to pay for a particular offer or service and does not immediately credit them the money or any equivalent.

This Background is not intended to be an aid in determining the scope of the claimed subject matter nor be viewed as limiting the claimed subject matter to implementations that solve any or all of the disadvantages or problems presented above.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

It is to be understood that the present disclosure is not limited in its application to the details of construction and the arrangement of components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The present disclosure is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced or of being carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology used herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.

The use of "including", "comprising" or "having" and variations thereof herein is meant to encompass the items listed thereafter and equivalents thereof as well as additional items. The terms "a" and "an" herein do not denote a limitation of quantity, but rather denote the presence of at least one of the referenced item. Further, the use of terms "first", "second", and "third", and the like, herein do not denote any order, quantity, or importance, but rather are used to distinguish one element from another.

According to a non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure herein relate to the presentation of an advertising offer immediately after a user installs an application on a mobile computing device. In some implementations, a method of displaying an advertisement on a mobile computing device is provided and includes determining reception of advertisement by the device indicating application installation completion. The application performing processing to determine an advertisement based on the received an event, and displaying the advertisement on the device immediately upon reception of the application installation completion associated with event. This display of advertisement is based on combination of two features namely 1 ) Toast that helps the user viewing quick little message - the view is shown to the user as it appears as a floating view over the application thus by usage of this feature, it is ensured unobtrusive usage of the smart phone or synonymous devices by the users for their regular usage. 2) PhoneListener that allows the application to monitor changes in the Phone State (events) i.e., ringing, offhook, idle, on call and end call thus allowing the application to respond accordingly to different events. By merging these two features the advertisement can be issued without interruption to the user.

In another implementation according to a non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure is to provide a method for smart phone or synonymous devices user reading paid advertisements includes the steps that an advertisement content database is built on a local server of smart phone device which will be regularly updated by the advertising content that is provided by an advertising agency; when a user calls or answers a phone, the server sends a command to the phone of the user, and the advertisement content is displayed on a screen of the phone at various stages using the Phonelistener application; at the time phone ringing, before the call and after the call, the screen of the device displays advertisements that are stored in the device, thus it does not stream for the advertisement or use the data of the smart phone or synonymous devices in displaying advertisement. Hence the advertisement display is quicker, easier and most importantly uninterrupted to the regular usage of the phone by the user.

In another implementation, a method of displaying an advertisement on a mobile computing device includes determining reception of an advertisement output by the device indicating application installation completion, generating a queue of installed advertisements that is controlled by the application installed on user device, generating a database of advertisements on the device based on the received advertisements.

In another implementation, a method of displaying an advertisement on a mobile computing device not only while making calls or receiving calls by users but also while execution of other applications such as chatting on messengers, sending sms etc., if such applications does not consume the full screen of the mobile phone or synonymous devices. If the such other applications like messengers etc., consume or occupy the full screen of the mobile phone or synonymous devices, the advertisements will display either on the opening of the application or closing of the application and does not run during the execution of such another application. Further application also determines whether control of the device may be interrupted by full screen control of a display of the device by another application to avoid conflict. In a situation where the part of phone or synonymous devices is screen is occupied by another application, the advertisement of customized size will be displayed without interruption to the another application.

In another implementation, the users who install this application and view the advertisement shall be paid appropriately as and when the cost for receiving/viewing the advertisements revenues accumulates to a certain quantity, a system that maintains the number of advertisement displayed and viewed will transfers the cost to a specific account of the user. The user on accumulation of the amount in the account shall use the same as digital currency.

In yet another implementation, the user can avoid the advertisements by disabling the app during the critical period where they don't want to be disturb with such advertisements. During the period when the application is disabled the users will not be able to generate any revenues. Further the app provides the account balance button with the application, user can check his account balance any time. This button helps the user to identify the amount available in his account.

In another implementation, the user can also use the application for regular chatting as messenger, for sending sms messages, playing music, videos etc., further the application also identify the caller id and his profile from public or social media databases.

The system displays the advertisement that includes playing audio, showing a movie, displaying text, displaying a picture, etc. on a converged voice and data communications device and/or on a second communications device. The system can display advertisements simultaneous with the audio stream or after the audio stream terminates. For example, if a user is making a call on a smart phone or synonymous devices, the system can display advertisements on the smart phone's screen during the phone call, immediately after the phone call, or at some later time without any interruption to user for his regular usage of the smart phone.

The system can display advertisements on a user's laptop screen during a VoIP conversation. The system can display advertisements on a user's IPTV set-top box while the user is talking on a cell phone. The system can display advertisements on one or more of these devices at some specified interval after the end of the call or after identifying the key phrase, such as 5 minutes, 1 hour, 2 weeks, etc. The Application installed on the phone can coordinate and orchestrate displaying advertisements on more than one device. The Central sever collect and maintain database of advertisement from various advertisers and continuously updated to the user phone when connected to internet.

Those of skill in the art will appreciate that other embodiments of the invention may be practiced in network computing environments with many types of computer system configurations, including personal computers, hand-held devices, multi-processor systems, microprocessor-based or programmable consumer electronics, network PCs, minicomputers, mainframe computers, and the like. Embodiments may also be practiced in distributed computing environments where tasks are performed by local and remote processing devices that are linked (either by hardwired links, wireless links, or by a combination thereof) through a communications network. In a distributed computing environment, program modules may be located in both local and remote memory storage devices.

The various embodiments described above are provided by way of illustration only and should not be construed to limit the invention. For example, the principles herein may be applied to telephone calls, VoIP calls, web chats, voicemail, and even email attachments containing speech data. Those skilled in the art will readily recognize various modifications and changes that may be made to the present invention without following the example embodiments and applications illustrated and described herein, and without departing from the true spirit and scope of the present invention.
