Abstract:
Systems and methods for suppressing the spread of fire, fire-related toxins, and other biological and chemical hazards are disclosed. In embodiments of the present invention a controller (508) shuts off the flow of electrical current to the fan of a residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system in response to an electrical signal emitted by a detector, such as a smoke (204, 410), heat, or biochemical detector. Embodiments of the present invention may include a variety of additional features as well, including a notification device and an electrical panel (202) shut off.
