Provided are a system and method for treating VOC gas in engine exhaust gas. The system comprises: an inlet, an outlet, and a flow channel located between the inlet and the outlet, and further comprises an ultraviolet ray apparatus (4) and an exhaust gas electric field apparatus (5), wherein the ultraviolet ray apparatus (4) and the exhaust gas electric field apparatus (5) are arranged along the flow channel in the direction from the inlet to the outlet in sequence, the exhaust gas electric field apparatus (5) comprises: an electric field apparatus inlet (51), an electric field apparatus outlet (52), an electric field cathode (10212) and an electric field anode (10211), and the electric field cathode (10212) and the electric field anode (10211) are used to generate an ionizing dust-removal electric field. The electric field is used for dust removal to effectively remove nanoparticles in the product of engine exhaust gas and gas after the engine exhaust gas is treated by means of ultraviolet ray irradiation.
