Description:
A SYSTEM TO OBTAIN AND STORE ELECTRICITY FROM ELECTRIC EEL

Technical Field

The invention relates to an electricity - obtaining system which enables obtaining and storing electricity which electric eels produce in their bodies; to be used in an active, sustainable and manageable manner.

State of the Art

In the systems used in current art, the energy created from an energy source or directly - obtained energy forms such as heat, kinetic and photon, are converted to electric energy by using converter systems. With regards to this subject;

• Heat is obtained from coal, which is a fossil fuel, by using industrial boiler technologies; vapor is produced from the obtained heat and converted to electricity by using and alternator,

• Light emitted by sun, which is a renewable energy source, is obtained by solar panels, photo - voltaic cells inside the panels absorb the light (photons) and convert it to electricity,

• Kinetic energy of wind, which is a renewable energy source, is obtained by wind turbines and converted to mechanical energy and electricity is obtained from this mechanical energy.

Among these systems, the ones which use fossil energy resources require energy conversion systems with high investment costs in order to be able to create the energy and convert it into electric form for the purpose of producing electricity. In order to maintain continuity in production, high maintenance and repair costs and work force are required. In addition, some fuels cause high emission release and harmful wastes, consequently resulting in environment pollution.

Systems which use bio - gas and bio - mass, which are renewable energy resources, also have the same fate as the systems using fossil fuels. Investment costs of systems using solar and wind energy are high and losses are experienced while the energy is converted to electricity; although the maintenance and repair costs and work force are lower in comparison with the systems using fossil fuels. In addition, the continuity of the electric production in these systems is affected by the seasonal changes depending on the occurrence of sun or wind.

In the patent research regarding the subject of obtaining electricity from eels, no similar patent has been found. Nonetheless; a Chinese patent numbered CN201210106476A with title “Undersea Protection Electric Eel” has been found. In the abstract of the patent it is described that the invention relates to an undersea protection electric eel which comprises a hollow carbon fiber pipe, in which an optic cable and an electric cable are arranged, here, bottom end of the hollow carbon fiber pipe is connected to an undersea electric cable and optic cable via a composite line; a discharge metal pin is arranged on the top of the hollow carbon fiber pipe and at least one water detection inductor and at least one engine propeller are arranged respectively on the bottom end and top end of the hollow carbon fiber pipe.

Aim of the Invention

Aim of the invention is to provide a novel technique which brings an innovation to the field unlike the electric generators used in the current art.

Most significant aim of the invention is that the electricity which eels produce in their bodies can be used in an active, sustainable and manageable manner; instead of converting any energy source into electric energy.

An aim of the invention is that; the need for using any fuel or renewable energy resource other than the eels for the electricity production is eliminated, and a system installment for producing electricity is provided where the production continuity is not affected by any specific condition or circumstance such as the amount of sun or wind as it is the case in the systems using solar or wind energy to produce electricity.

A significant aim of the invention is that it does not require high maintenance and repair costs as the other systems, due to the fact that no external influence which can cause deformation is put on the electricity - producing eel in order to make it produce electricity.

Another aim of the invention is that electricity consumption costs are decreased via its integration to the industry because electricity is produced in addition to the electricity used from the electric network and more importantly, the necessary energy is produced so that the important areas can continue operating while an electric cut from the electric network is experienced.

The system of the invention does not require energy conversion systems in order to create the energy and convert it to electricity. It is the eel producing the electricity directly. The continuity of this electricity system is not affected by seasonal changes as in the systems producing electricity from solar and wind resources. Due to the fact that there is no emission or harmful waste as a result of the electricity production, it does not create environment pollution. Loss of energy is minimum because the electricity directly produced by the eel is being used.

In order to fulfill the above - mentioned aims, the invention is an electric generator system, wherein it comprises; at least one main pool, an electrostatic active voltage arrester structured in the said main pool which holds the electricity which the eel emits and transmits it to electrical conversion and storage area, a signal receiver I transmitter circuit which triggers the eel and make it discharge and also obtains the electrical signals which the eel emits and transmit these.

Detailed Description of the Invention

In Figure 1 ; a general perspective view of the electricity generator and storing system (100), which enables using and storing the electricity produced by the eels in their body, is illustrated. The system as a general principle comprises at least one main pool (107), an electrostatic active voltage arrester (101 ) structured in the said main pool (107) which holds the electricity which the eel emits and transmits it to electrical conversion and storage area, and a signal receiver / transmitter circuit (102) which triggers the eel and make it discharge and also receives the electrical signals which the eel emits and transmit these.

It also comprises a level sensor (103) which detects a decrease of the level by checking the water level of the main pool (107), which is the living area of the eel, a clean water submersible pump (104) which provides clean water to the main pool (107), which is the living area of the eel and a waste water submersible pump (105) which drains the waste water from the main pool (107), which is the living area of the eel. In addition, it comprises a sample container (106) which determines the quality of the water by constantly analyzing the NH3, conductivity and 02 of the water inside the main pool (107) with its sensors, an automation and SCADA system (108) for the purposes of managing and commanding the system as well as processing data, and an energy transmission line (109) which transmits the electricity stored in the said electrostatic active voltage arrester (101 ).

On the other hand, it comprises a regulator which increases the current by decreasing the voltage of the electricity received from the said electrostatic active voltage arrester (101 ) to 220 V or 380 V and an inverter system (110) which can alter the form of the electricity as DC / AC & AC / DC when needed and an energy storage system (111) in which the electricity received from the said energy transmission line (109) is stored and transmitted to the end user.

The said electrostatic active voltage arrester (101) stores the electricity which is released after a signal is sent from the signal receiver I transmitter circuit (102) to eel for discharge and transmits it to conversion and storage area. The operation principle is similar to the electrostatic active conductors. Because this section will be the area inside the pool with lowest electrical resistance and highest conductivity, the electricity released from the eel will flow through here.

The signal receiver I transmitter circuit (102) will collect the electrical signals emitted by the eel and send the necessary data to the automation and SCADA system (108) for the purpose of monitoring the health of the eel, electrical charge amount and hunger status. In addition to that, signals which trigger the eel to discharge will also be sent from this area by the automation and SCADA system (108).

The sample container (106) used in the system will continuously analyze the NH3, conductivity and 02 levels in the water by its sensors and send the necessary data to the automation and SCADA system (108) for the purpose of determining the water quality.

The main pool (107) is the section where the active voltage arrester (101 ), the signal receiver I transmitter circuit (102) and the level sensor (103) are located. One eel will be put into each pool. In the illustration, there are 8 sections, i.e. pools, therefore; there are 8 eels. The number of pools and eels can be increased or decreased depending on the energy level and duration for obtaining the energy. Octagon form of the pool shown in the figure can vary depending on different sections and areas of use. The pool will be coated with non - conducting material in order to eliminate its contact with the other pools.

Automation and SCADA system (108) is the center for management and data processing. The software included here shall be determined as a result of research and development studies performed on eels and it will be transformed into a unique software. In the research and development studies to be performed, the electrical signals collected by the signal receiver I transmitter circuit (102) shall be defined to answer the questions of whether the eel is hungry, healthy, completely electrically charged or if it is ready for electrical discharge etc. In addition, for the purposes of enabling the discharge of the eel and to manage the amount and duration of the discharge, hostile creatures in eels' natural habitat will be simulated in electrical medium and will be prepared to be sent as signals to the eel via the signal receiver I transmitter circuit (102). All data can be monitored and reported online.

The regulator and inverter system (110) will be used to increase the current by decreasing the voltage of the electricity received from the electrostatic active voltage arrester (101 ) to 220 V or 380 V. On the other hand, the inverter will be used to perform the AC I DC or DC I AC conversion of the electricity released from the regulator, when needed.

In addition to these, a grate surface (1074) is structured on the top surface of the said main pool (107). By virtue of this surface, personnel can navigate in this section and the system can monitor the eels. Also, a safety protection (1075) and a ladder (1073), which are encircled by the grate surface (1074) and the navigation area are included into the system.

These eels belong to catfish fam ilia, which can often be found in freshwaters of our country. They live in Amazon and Orinoco areas in North East of South America, in muddy waters with low amounts of oxygen. Due to the fact that the environment for the eel to live and reproduce is any muddy freshwater with low levels of oxygen, the production of these fish is not difficult and does not require any special care. For this reason, there is no difficulty in accessing the resource (the eel) which is needed to produce electricity. Costs of installment, maintenance and repair and also the work load of the system of the invention, which is designed to release the electricity already existing in the eels' body and use this electricity, are significantly low when compared with the other systems with the same usage aim. In this system, there is no need for a fuel or renewable energy resource for the production of electricity. Only the eels, a suitable environment for the eels to live in and any food with the protein needed for nutrition are sufficient.

In the electricity generator and storing system (100) of the invention; for the disinfection of the waste water, the electricity of the system can be given to the water instead of using ultra - violate systems or chemicals such as chlorine as in waste water purification systems used in houses or in industry. In addition, precipitation period of mud used in the final precipitation pools in these facilities can be shortened by giving the electricity produced by the system to water, or it can be performed directly. At the same time, the electricity need which is required for the process called electro coagulation, which is used for eliminating the pollution parameters in the water in these facilities, can be provided by this invention.

When the invention is integrated into agriculture, the electricity needed for the watering systems and pump stations can be produced on site.

The electricity generator and storing system (100) of the invention can provide on - site electricity production when it is integrated to areas such as base and radio stations, to which transmitting electricity can be difficult and costly due to transportation insufficiencies.

Due to the fact that the eels used in our electricity generator and storing system (100) do not need high amount of oxygen, different versions of this system can be used as alternative energy resource in spacecraft. The invention can especially be used for energy production when spacecrafts using solar panels for energy need travel to planets which are far from sun. This system can be used as a back - up system when energy production systems of spacecrafts malfunction.
