Abstract:
One hydraulic system for operating lifting apparatus includes a piston housing operatively coupled to a power block and having distal and guide portions, a piston movable between retracted and extended positions, a fluid reservoir separated from the piston housing and located outside the block, and ducts having at least one valve and extending between the reservoir and an opening in the guide portion. The guide portion is inside the distal portion and is hollow. The piston is inwardly adjacent the distal portion and outwardly adjacent the guide portion. A pump is in communication with the ducts for extending the piston by moving fluid from the reservoir to an area inside the piston and beyond the guide portion. A release is in communication with the ducts for retracting the piston by allowing fluid inside the piston and beyond the guide portion to move to the reservoir.
