Abstract:
A table driving device for a machine tool which has a machining table (12) for positioning a workpiece, a driving table 913) movably connected to the machining table (12) across a gap (t), table driving means connected to the driving table (13), and high pressure air supply means for supplying high pressure air to the movably connected parts. The machining table (12) is moved by the driving table (13) by a high pressure air film supplied to the movably connected parts. Vibration, errors and the like of the table driving system are absorbed by the air film, thereby enabling the accurate machining of the workpiece placed on the machining table (12).
