Abstract:
A tabular alumina particle that contains mullite in the surface layer thereof. A method for manufacturing a tabular alumina particle, said method comprising mixing, relative to 100 mass% of the tabular alumina particle, an aluminum compound containing 50 mass% or more of aluminum element in terms of Al2O3, a molybdenum compound containing 40 mass% or less of molybdenum element in terms of MoO3 and a silicon compound containing 0.5 mass% or more and less than 10 mass% of silicon or silicon element in terms of SiO2 to give a mixture and then baking the mixture.
