[PROBLEMS] To provide a tape cassette enabling a mechanism for winding up a used ink ribbon to be simplified without using a special drive source such as a motor and a large number of gears. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] This tape cassette (10) is set in the tape cassette storage part (3) of a tape printer (1) and a platen roller (4) is rotated clockwise to withdraw a tape (20) and the ink ribbon (30) held between the platen roller (4) and a thermal head (5). After the tape (20) is withdrawn, a tape winding shaft (71) is rotated counterclockwise and a first gear (73) formed integrally with the tape winding shaft (71) is also rotated counterclockwise. When the first gear (73) is rotated counterclockwise, a second gear (93) meshed with the first gear is rotated clockwise, and an ink ribbon winding shaft (91) fitted to the gear shaft (94) and riding on the second gear (93) is also rotated clockwise according to the clockwise driving rotation of the second gear (93). When the ink ribbon winding shaft (91) is rotated clockwise, the ink ribbon (30) is wound up clockwise.
