Abstract:

A tapping screw capable of suppressing an excessive increase in screwing torque even if it is screwed into a deep prepared hole. The tapping screw (100) comprises a parallel screw (22), a tapered screw (23) formed at the tip side thereof more than the parallel screw (22), and projected parts (30) formed on the threads thereof to be partially projected along the crests and both side flanks of the threads and forming a female screw in the surface of a prepared hole formed in a mating tightened member. The plurality of projected parts (30) are formed on the tapping screw in an area where the tapered screw (23) is formed and in a part of an area where the parallel screw (22) is formed, and so formed that the diameter of a virtual cylinder in contact with the tips of some of the projected parts including the projected parts (30) formed in the area where the parallel screw (22) is formed is larger than the outer diameter of the male threads of the parallel screw (22).
