A TBHQ preparation process, comprising the steps as follows: 1) pouring 2-4 parts by weight of phosphoric acid and 0.1-0.4 parts by weight of water into a mixing tank, then adding 5-7 parts by weight of hydroquinone and stirring; 2) putting the stirred solution into a reactor to heat to 55°C-65°C, and adding 7-9 parts by weight of t-butanol; heating to 75°C-85°C and maintaining the temperature for 2-3 hours; 3) treating the reaction product and obtaining TBHQ crude product; 4) mixing 1-3 parts by weight of acid and 93-96 parts by weight of water, and adding 4.5-6.5 parts by weight of the crude product while heating to 82°C-88°C, then heating to 92°C-95°C, and dissolution is complete; 5) conducting first centrifugation on the solution and cooling, and when cooled below 45°C, conducting second centrifugation, and treating the obtained crystalline form to obtain TBHQ refined product; 6) adding 25-27 parts by weight of ethanol in a reactor, then adding 80-90 parts by weight of the TBHQ refined product; 7) when the temperature reaches 85°C-92°C, maintaining the temperature for 1-2 hours, then filtering, cooling, separating, and drying the obtained crystal to obtain TBHQ.
