Abstract:
The invention presented in this paper relates to an optical fibre detector for temperature measurement and/or electromagnetic field intensity using a Bragg grating (2) in optical fibre (1), associated with a microwave radiation-sensitive material (3). The detector is obtained associating an optical fibre (1), in the region where the fibre Bragg grating (2) is written on, with a material (3) that, when absorbing radiation in the microwave range, increases in temperature, changes dimensions, or both. This detector allows the precise quantitative measurement and mapping in real time of temperature and/or microwave radiation intensity in high electromagnetic noise environments, while benefiting from the additional advantages of the use of optical fibres, such as small size and high flexibility.
