Abstract:
A temperature protection device comprising polymer PTC element (1), the polymer PTC element (1) comprising two electrodes (6)(7) having conductive polymer (5) interposed therebetween, and metal member (2) joined to one electrode (7) of the polymer PTC element (1), wherein the state of current flow between the other electrode (6) of the polymer PTC element (1) and the metal member (2) is discontinued in the event that the ambient temperature exceeds a given temperature. The property of effecting thermal expansion in the event that the ambient temperature exceeds a given temperature is imparted to the conductive polymer (5). For the metal member (2), a material that is melted by heat build-up of the conductive polymer (5) overheated by thermal expansion is selected and used.
