Abstract:
The invention relates to a terminal for chip cards containing microcontrollers. A chip card terminal (1) contains a contact device (2) for chip cards (3) and an integrated keyboard unit (5) and is linked to the interface (6) of an electronic data processing unit (7) via a data path (c). Said data path allows the bi-directional exchange of data. The aim of the invention is to provide a simple construction whilst ensuring adequate security with an integrated keyboard. To this end, the chip card terminal (1) contains a gate circuit (4) which is regulated by the control unit (8) and is connected to the chip card (3) via the contact device (2), by means of a data path (a). The gate circuit (4) is also connected to the integrated keyboard unit (5) by means of a data path (b) and to the interface (6) of an electronic data processing unit (7) by means of the data path (c). The electronic data processing unit (7) generates the data traffic to the chip card via the data path (c) and also issues the command to insert the identification information from data path (b) into the resulting data path (a), which then activates the control unit (8) of the gate circuit (4), via said data path (c).
