A first terminal device and second terminal device are able to wirelessly connect to one access point. In the first terminal device, a first communication unit communicates wirelessly with the access point and communicates by cable or wirelessly with the second terminal device. A reception unit receives a user request to carry out setup for encrypted communication with the access point. In response to the user request, a setup request unit sends a signal to the second terminal device through the first communication unit to request setup for encrypted communication. In the second terminal device, a second communication unit communicates wirelessly with the access point and communicates by cable or wirelessly with the first terminal device. When a signal requesting for setup for encrypted communication is received from the first terminal device through the second communication unit, an encrypted communication setup unit performs setup for encrypted communication with the access point.
