Abstract:
Provided are a terminal: having exceptional strength, heat resistance, and formability; and exhibiting low contact resistance both initially and subsequent to durability testing. Also provided is a method for manufacturing same. This terminal comprises a metal member (1, 1') having a substrate (2) and a metal coating layer (3) formed on someor all of the substrate (2). The substrate (2) comprises a total of 0.005-3.000% by mass of at least one element selected from Mg, Si, Cu, Zn, Mn, Ni, Cr, and Zr, the balance comprising Al and unavoidable impurities. The substrate (2) has 500 or more particles of precipitate per micron2, the precipitate having an average particle size of 10-100 nm. The metal coating layer (3) comprises Sn or an alloy principally containing Sn.
