The objective of the invention is to ascertain the amount of offset among the front ends of a plurality of connector terminals prior to insertion. Provided is a method comprising: a moving step of moving a holding unit (11) in a straight line, the holding unit (11) holding a plurality of connector terminals (52) aligned in a single row and parallel to one another, each connector terminal being connected to an end section of an electric wire (51) by being crimped thereon, the holding unit (11) being moved while the respective front ends in the plurality of connector terminals (52) are oriented in an advancing direction (D11) and the moving distance of the holding unit (11) is being measured; a passage detection step of detecting the passage by the respective front ends in the plurality of connector terminals (52) through respective target points on respective pathways (522), which coincide with each other in a side surface view wherein the pathways (522) for the plurality of connector terminals (52) are observed in the alignment direction (D11) of the plurality of connector terminals (52); and an offset amount acquisition step of determining the offset amount among the front ends in the plurality of connector terminals (52) on the basis of a moving distance at the time when the passage has been detected for the respective front ends in the plurality of connector terminals (52).
