With respect to a drive device that performs drive control of an electric motor by reference to values set as relative values, the present inventions allows a person who is in charge of testing the drive device for the purpose of optimizing the values of the items to work with the values of the items as physical quantities without having to impose an extra load on the drive device. To achieve this, the device for testing the drive device is provided with a communication interface unit, a storage unit, and a control unit as described below. The drive device to be tested is connected to the communication interface unit. The storage unit stores in advance a conversion definition file containing conversion information that is written in association with identifiers uniquely representing each item and is used for conversion between relative values and physical quantities for those items. The control unit converts relative values acquired for each item from the drive device into physical values by reference to the descriptions stored in the conversion definition file and displays the physical values on a display device. Also, the control unit converts physical quantities input by the person in charge of testing into relative values in accordance with the descriptions in the conversion definition file and sets the relative values on the drive device.
