Abstract:

[Problem] To provide a tether and an artificial celestial body that can further reduce the burden of collision avoidance on and the risk of collision with satellites in operation or the like. [Solution] A tether 10 comprises a member in which at least a partial region in the length direction collapses or disappears by being exposed to atomic oxygen. For example, the tether 10 is configured by weaving spun yarn made of carbon nanotubes into a net or a ribbon.
