Abstract:

A tetrafluoroethylene copolymer not melt molded and excelling in paste extrudability, comprising units derived from tetrafluoroethylene and units derived from a monomer represented by the formula CF₂=CF-O-(CF₂)_nCF=CF₂ (wherein n is an integer of 1 to 6), wherein the content of units derived from the monomer represented by the above formula is in the range of 0.1 to 0.5 mass%, the tetrafluoroethylene copolymer exhibiting a primary particle diameter of 0.1 to 0.5 μm, a standard specific gravity of 2.14 to 2.25 and a paste extrusion pressure of 24.5 to 73.5 MPa; fine powder of such a tetrafluoroethylene copolymer; a process for producing the same; and a paste extrudate thereof. The tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) copolymer excels in paste extrudability, and the resultant extrudate has excellent heat resistance and transparency.
