Tetraphenylporphyrin derivatives of the general formula (I) or salts thereof; and use of both as photosensitizer wherein R?1¿, R?2¿, R?3¿ and R?4¿ are each independently a group represented by the formula (II), (III) or (IV) with that proviso that at least one of R?1¿ to R?4¿ is the group represented by the formula (II) and at least one of the others is the group represented by the formula (III).
