Abstract:
Disclosed is a text-to-speech device provided with a sound control unit (114) which selects and outputs a text-to-speech item from a plurality of items multiplexed on broadcast signals and contained in program information, and starts or stops the output of the text-to-speech item on the basis of a request from a remote-control controlling unit (113); a sound generation unit (115) which converts the text-to-speech item to a sound signal; and a speaker (109) for replaying the sound signal; wherein the sound control unit(114) compares the respective items of information regarding an under-selection program which has been newly selected by a remote-control operation by a viewer and the respective items of information regarding a prior operation program which was selected just before the remote-control operation, and stops the output to the sound generation unit (115) with respect to an item which is identical with the item of the prior operation program information, and which has already been subjected to text-to-speeching after the latest content change.
