Abstract:
A thermal development device which is capable of ensuring rapidity with witch the thermal development process is performed while maintaining image quality equivalent to that in the conventional large-sized machine, and also capable of size reduction and cost reduction; and a thermal development method. This thermal development device, adapted, while heating a film (F) having a thermal development light-sensitive material applied to one surface of a substrate and transferring the same, to make visible the latent image formed on the film, comprises a temperature raising section for heating the film to a thermal development temperature, and a warmth keeping section for keeping the warmth of the sheet film raised to the thermal development temperature. Different heating systems are used for the temperature raising section and the warmth keeping section so as to intend intimate contact between the film and the heating surface and to heat the film in a clearance.
