Abstract:
Provided is a thermal insulator capable of preventing the formation of a gap. A thermal insulator in which a xerogel is supported in a non-woven fabric and in spaces inside the non-woven fabric is configured in such a way that the thermal insulator includes a plurality of protruding portions in a surface thereof, and if the thickness of the thermal insulator is t, the height of the protruding portions is at least equal to 0.10t and at most equal to 0.25t, the size of the protruding portions at the surface of the thermal insulator is at least equal to t and at most equal to 5t, and pores are provided inside the thermal insulator in the regions in which the protruding portions are provided.
