Title:
THERMAL POWER PLANT WITH CO2 SEQUESTRATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2009/108065
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A method for separation of C02 from the combustion gas of a gas turbine comprising the steps of : a) withdrawing the conbustion gas at an intermediate stage (41) of the turbine, b) introducing the withdrawn combustion gas into a burner (25) together with compressed air and additionnal carbonaceus fuel to cause a second combustion therein, c) cooling the combustion gas from the burner, d) introducing the cooled combustion gas into a C02 capturing unit (33), to separate the combustion gas into a C02 rich gas (34), that is withdrawn for deposition, and a C02 lean gas (35) and, e) reheating and reintroducing the C02 lean gas into the turbine at an intermediate level (4") and further expand the gas before it is released into the atmosphere, is described. A power generation plant utilizing the method is also described.
