Abstract:
A thermal printer 100 uses an ink ribbon 7 having a function by which a thermal head 5 is cleaned as a result of the ink ribbon 7 being heated. The thermal printer 100 executes cleaning processing for cleaning the thermal head 5. In the cleaning processing, the thermal head 5 imparts heat to the ink ribbon 7, such heat being a heat amount such that a dye coated onto the ink ribbon 7 is not sublimated, and a heat amount that is for carrying out the cleaning.
