Abstract:
A thermal printing device comprising a controller and a medium detection sensor which is disposed separated from a thermal head at a distance that is shorter than the circumferential length of a platen roller. Even if the feed amount of print media after printing has begun on the print media reaches the feed amount of the end sections of the print media arriving at the medium detection sensor, if a print medium has not been detected by the medium detection sensor, the controller determines that a print medium has become caught on the platen roller and back-feeds the print medium by causing the platen roller to rotate in reverse.
