A thermal protector (1) is provided fixedly with a first terminal (3) and second terminal (4) connecting respectively to an external circuit at lower left and right ends in the longitudinal direction of a base (2). A right end section at which a movable plate (8) and a bimetal (9) overlap is fixed to an upper surface right end of the base (2), and connected to the second terminal (4). A fixed contact (6) is fixed to an inner end section of the first terminal (3), which is exposed at a left end inner section of the base (2). A movable contact (11) is fixed to a position facing the fixed contact (6) on a left end free end lower surface of the movable plate (8). A partition wall (13) enclosing the movable contact (11) and the fixed contact (6) from three sides is provided, and a curved plate surface (14) is formed on two sides of the movable plate (8) adjacent to the movable contact (11). The curved plate surface (14) rectifies a wind orientation of hot air, and cooperates with the partition wall (13) to prevent a defect where a break arc when a contact is open jumps to an electroconductive member in the periphery.
