Abstract:
Printing using a roll-type image receiving sheet and both-sided printing using a sheet-type image receiving sheet are performed at low cost. A thermal transfer printing device is provided with: a roll-sheet supply unit that rotates an image receiving sheet roll on which a first image receiving sheet is wound; and a printing unit that has a thermal head to heat a thermal transfer sheet and transfers a colorant from the thermal transfer sheet onto the first image receiving sheet to form an image. The removal of the image receiving sheet roll enables the attachment of an inversion unit that inverts a sheet-type second image receiving sheet to a region in which the image receiving sheet roll has been accommodated. The printing unit forms an image on the first image receiving sheet in a first printing mode in which the image receiving sheet roll is accommodated in the region, and forms images on both sides of the second image receiving sheet in a second printing mode in which the inversion unit is attached to the region.
