Abstract:

A thermal transfer sheet that realizes a high value of maximum transfer density in photographic printing, being free from any blocking during the storage in rolled form, and that in rolled form inhibits any dye migration from a dye layer to a back layer opposite thereto, and that in photographic printing on a transfer subject, is free from any abnormal transfer, such as transfer of the entirety of dye layer, and that in photographic printing, enables suppression of the density of highlight zone, and that enables formation without any trouble of a print excelling in the reproduction of gradation from highlight to shadow. There is provided a thermal transfer sheet comprising a base material, a heat-resistant sliding layer disposed on one major surface of the base material and a dye layer disposed on the opposite major surface of the base material, wherein the binder resin as a constituent of the dye layer has a loss modulus at 60°C of ≥ 10⁷ Pa, a loss modulus at 100°C of ≥ 10⁶ Pa and a loss modulus at 150°C falling within the range of 10⁴ to 10⁵ Pa.
