Abstract:
A thermoacoustic device capable of generating a sound wave in a shortened time and
having a greatly improved energy conversion efficiency. The thermoacoustic device
(1) comprises a pair of heat exchangers (41, 43) installed on the high- and low-temperature
sides respectively, a second stack (42) installed between the heat exchangers
(41, 43) and each having a conduction passage inside itself, and a loop tube (2)
equipped with the heat exchangers (41, 43) and the stack (42). The sound energy
generated in the loop tube (2) by a sound wave generator (3) is converted into heat
energy by using the heat exchangers (41, 43) and the stack (42). A narrow part
(21) whose inner diameter is relatively small is provided in a position where
the sound particle velocity of the standing wave produced in the loop tube (2)
takes on a maximum value. A branch tube (2e) for decreasing the sound particle
velocity is connected to a position where the sound particle velocity of the standing
wave produced in the loop tube (2) takes on a minimum value.
