Abstract:
This thermoacoustic device comprises a loop-shaped waveguide and a heat exchanger. The loop-shaped waveguide is filled with a medium. The heat exchanger is provided inside the waveguide and has a low-temperature part and a high-temperature part. The heat exchanger also has a temperature gradient maintenance part that is provided between the low-temperature part and the high-temperature part and that maintains the temperature gradient generated between the low-temperature part and the high-temperature part. The temperature gradient maintenance part has a plurality of heat conduction members that transfer heat to the medium according to the temperature gradient. The spacing between the plurality of heat conduction members is set so that the phase velocity of the sound waves generated and amplified in the medium by the temperature gradient corresponds to the temperature rise or fall rate of the medium caused by the temperature gradient. The length of the waveguide corresponds to the phase velocity of the sound waves.
