Abstract:
A thermodynamic cycle with a gaseous working medium which is alternately compressed and expanded, in which a working medium is used that at the higher temperature following compression experiences an increase in volume as a result of chemical processes and at the lower temperature following expansion experiences a corresponding reduction in volume, is improved in such a way that a higher efficiency is achieved. This is made possible by the fact that the increase in volume is exothermic and the reduction in volume is endothermic. The cycle can thus improve efficiency in both heat engines and in heat pumps.
